Django unchained trailer analysis

At the start of the trailer, they introduce the main character suffering, in pain and not wealthy. Features that shows that he is in pain and suffering is the big terrifying scares on the back of the man's back, thick

uncomfortable, heavy chains rubbing on the Django's risk and leg, cold harsh wind and the lack of clothes. The start of the film create a bad welcome to the film which makes the audience feel sympathy. The condition that they are in which is hungry, thirsty, cold, depression and humiliation helps to makes the audience feel more sympathy.


Features that shows that he is unwealthy is the lack of clothes, hunger, thirsty, no shoes, no hygiene, no horse or other transport, no personal belongings, no healthcare and the high shot used to film the scene combine with a non diegetic sad music. The small hints and features suggest to the audience that the film is set during slavery times. This makes the audience jump to conclusion that the film is going to be about django being unwealthy and in pain. However, it was proven wrong because the next few scene, he was rescued by a white person which makes the audience question and feel fear because during that time, if a white person is killed, the murderer will be punished or killed. Right after, Django being saved, they started changing him from being poor, in pain, suffering, not wealthy to wealthy and rich. Features that shows that he is wealthy and no longer in pain or poor: The thick comfortable furry coat, leather gloves and shoes and his own horse. In addition to wealthy, there is a scene where he was in a public bar enjoying a cold tasty beer with a white man. This makes the audience feel interested to the film because slavery is twisted. Audience were expecting to see black people suffering and in pain but in this film, a black person was treated well and wealthy. The fast non diegetic pop music create a happy atmosphere and create a sense that this film is going to have some comedy scenes. The bar scene, they start introducing another character who is a white person. They introduce him as a bounty hunter, kind man, gentleman and trust worthy person. In that scene, they started to explain to the audience what is going to happen in this film. 

The next few scene, they included multiple scene of the bounty hunter and Django getting ready for an adventure mix with scenes of other black people suffering and in pain like the scene where a black girl was dragged and whipped by a white male. This makes the audience feel angry and irritated because they are seeing a woman mistreated and in pain. While in that scene, there is a over voice of the bounty hunter and Django talking about their plans and ideas which is to search and kill two bad people and save Django wife in return of helping the bounty hunter. After this few scenes, they included scenes of their travel which gives a sense that they are on a adventure. later in the trailer, they started to introduce Django wife features and face which is the scene where Django is in the hot spring with the wife. Right after Django agreeing with the plans, they started showing scenes of white people dying: scene where Django shoots an bomb which created a huge explosion, birds eye view of white male screaming in pain,white male falling off a horse and his blood spraying out onto the cotton but right after this scene, they included a white male killing white people which makes the audience question and feel surprised. The next scene of Django whipping a evil white male makes the audience feel angry and satisfying because they can see that white male that was dragging a woman, getting whipped and suffering. 

Codes and conventions for all genre

Horror

Often in horror movies, they use less lighting showing the hunter and the innocent person. They also love filming in dark place or places with not much bright colours even eerie places like a dark forest or haunted house. In horror films, they like to include lots of enigma codes and creepy sounds and voice. The main effect that they want to achieve is fear and worry. 

Fear, haunted, blood, ugly faces, murder and much more which make a horror film. To create a horror film, you must film it in a dark eerie place or places with not much bright colour and less light. It must have an innocent person or more and a hunter or a monster. But most important thing that must be included in horror films is jumps care and lots of blood and violence. The camera shot that they like to use a lot is mostly close up because close up mostly creates enigma codes. 


Action

Action often use bright and low lighting to show the audience who is the hero and who is the Villain. A lot to show what kind of place they are in.

Action films mostly have fast cuts because there is lots of fighting and movement. They do this to engage the audience and to make it less. In action films the like to include guns, knives, cars and much more. The action film is filmed in dark and bright places. 

To make an action film you must include fast cuts and movement, violence and blood, physical fights and gunfights, cars, guns, knives, chase, must have a hero and villain and much more. In action films they don't have a favourite shot, they like to use lots of different shots like a long shot, medium shot and much more. The effect on the audience that they are trying to achieve is excitement.


Romance

Romance film is mostly about a love life of a couple. In romance film, they like to video in bright places and romantic places like the public park, city. They also like to include kissing, touching and sex in a romance film. The effect of the audience that they are trying to achieve is to make the audience feel so emotional and happiness and sometimes sadness. 

In the romance genre, they like using the close-up shot showing the emotions that the actor have and the body language.

To create a romance film you must have a couple and it must be set in a bright place. Also, you must include kissing and loving.

Rogue one trailer

Gravity trailer

First time watching this trailer, I can  say that it's a science fiction and drama film because it is base in space.

The start of the film they introduce to the audience the problem in this movie which is the scene where their explorer (spacecraft) being hit by scraps and metal and losing control. There were features that the explorer in danger. First was the constant spinning  of the aircraft losing control because of the impact of the scraps and metal pushing the aircraft the spin crazily suggest to the audience that the aircraft is unfixable. This makes the audience feel nervous and scared for the characters in the film because they don't have a spacecraft to travel back to earth. Makes the audience question how they are going back? In the same scene they also introduce two character names Dr Stone and Matt . Introducing Dr Stone first make the audience suggest that are important in this film. Dr Stone was the character that was spinning crazily and Matt was the over voice speaking to her.

The used of a tracking medium shot of her spinning make the audience feel like they are there with her. The used of a medium shot shows the audience her spacesuit. This create excitement because they can see the futuristic tools and outfit. Throughout the film a fast, non diegetic music creates tension.

 After presenting the company logo that created the movie, the other scene is about Dr Stone floating away from the spaceship and into space. She was trying to navigate where she is using the sun and the earth. This creates an effect on the audience making them feel scared and worried because the use of a tracking shot and a point of view makes the audience feel like they are there with her. It also makes them question how she is going to travel back to the ship without any transport. Before they show those scene, they had  a flicker of a point of view of the inside of a ship. This suggest to the audience that some point in the movie she would have found a spaceship. 

The next few scene is about her journey to another different ship. In this few scene they had multiple cuts and shots combine with a non diegetic soundtrack that is getting louder and louder also combine with a over voice of her talking to Matt. These few scenes, the creator showed the audience features that makes living in space impossible and dangerous. 

           




   

13 hours the secret soldiers of benghazi trailer

First time watching this trailer, I can say that this film is going to be an action film because of the violence, flashing images and light cause from weapons and explosion. 

The trailer starts showing the main feature of the country losing control. One of the features is ruined, abandoned car in the city with young children playing. This suggests to the audience that the country has no money to control the waste and also no money to hire public services such as police or scrap department means that the country is unstable, unsafe and needs help from another country. Another feature that the country is losing control is that civilians are armed with lethal weapon in public areas suggesting that there is no law, no control in cities means that VIP or special operations like CIA are requested to have personal outpost and protections which means that firearms are legal in this country and also means that special forces from different countries have to be armed and ready for combat. 

The next scene is a long high shot of a special diplomatic outpost showing the audience how defended and functioning the area is then slowly moved to the American flag suggesting that this film is going to be another America film. They included a scene of the inside of the outpost showing feature of security details such as images from drones feed and a digital map of the area suggesting that this base is well defended, ready and filled with innocent people and VIP. After this scene, they moved to protection details showing the audience the protection force or quick reaction team and introducing some of the main characters (Rone, Jack, Tanto) in their black suits suggesting that they are guarding  VIP. The scene switches and moves to Tanto and the other main characters geared up in combat gear and moving fast and aggressively holding lethal weapons showing to the audience that there will be a lot of action and gun fight. The non-diegetic music that they played throughout the trailer combined with a radio voice create a sense of sad and haunting.  

The next scene is a black page with writing in the middle " In 2012, the threat level in Benghazi, Libya was deemed "critical" which suggests to the audience that the film is based on a dangerous place. This excited the audience because they can sense that there will be lots of action scenes and intense moments. The scene starts to get more exciting because the next scene is cam held the shot of jeep with two CIA in trouble because they have hostiles holding lethal weapons and pointing at them suggesting that people in the country have forming groups. The music starts to get faster and louder. 
The next scene they introduce the main characters or the security team and the outpost suggesting that this film is going to be about the security team. After that scene, they moved to a blurred scene of hostiles with lethal weapons chanting and shouting which suggesting that they are going to battle. This scene introduces the situation (the villains) which are hostiles attacking American special operation outpost. There were different features that the outpost is being attacked. There is a scene where protection force is being shot and scenes where they are hiding which suggest to the audience that the attack was so unexpected and the security force was not ready or prepare for the fight. The explosions, guns, firepower and a number of hostiles suggest to the audience that the enemy is overpowered. The scene moves to a long shot of another outpost looking at the situation from a far distance combined with an over voice from a radio saying that they need help which suggests to the audience that the security force is outnumbered and losing control of the outpost. 

The next few scene shows the audience the quick reaction force gearing up and getting ready for combat. The scene cuts and moves to a long high shot of the hostiles charging towards a fancy house which suggests to the audience that the outpost has been overrun. They also introduce the ambassador which suggest that this outpost is important. The next few scene they show the quick reaction for handling the situation and trying to get back control but struggling to. After this, the next few scene is about the quick reaction force defending their outpost which suggesting that they are outnumbered and surrounded by hostiles. This also suggests that reinforcements are struggling to get to them.       

last but not least, they show the audience that this film is a true story which suggests the audience that this film is a biographic film. 
  

Wonder woman poster

First time looking at this poster, I can say that this is going to be an action movie because of combat gear and the war zone as the background. Wonder woman is the only character shown in this poster suggest that the movie is only going to be about him and that she is important in this film. 
She is in her combat gear that suggests to the audience that she is going to be in a lot of fights and danger which excites the audience because they want to see action and violence. She is running towards the enemy  suggesting that she is dashing to battle. Her outfit has a lot of bright colours like blue and red which suggest that she is brave because she stands out a lot at battlegrounds and very respected. The red represents royal and leadership. She has the logo on her chest suggest that she is the leader and an encouragement to all. 

Her ability to block bullets with her hands as you can see in the poster excited the audience that enigma the audience of wanting to know what else she can do and what another superpower she has. It also suggests to the audience that she is a rare kind of a superhero or a god because she is able to do things that a lot of people can't do like charge alone to battle without stop or getting shot. 

The background looks ruined, destroyed and set up for battle or defense because there is bulb wire in the background which looks like no man's land which suggests that this film is based on world war 1. The background also has dirt flying caused by explosions which suggest that the place that she's in is really dangerous because there is a lot of bombs. Her running into battle while people are trying to kill her suggest that she is an unusual person and a brave person. The background gives a sense of death, hell, blood and sadness because of the dark colors and the place and setting. But her outfit gives a sense of hope, encouragement, and hero because she is not afraid of standing out or death.             

The symbol "W" is placed between the name " Wonder woman" which suggests that the symbols represent wonder woman. Wonder woman is written in big, white font at the bottom of the poster.        

Megan leavey posters

The first time seeing this poster, I definitely say that this film is going to be an action and a biographic film because of the soldier outfit and the unusual text " Base on the true story of a Marine's best friend". 

The main title " Megan Leavey " is written in big and white font which suggest that this person is important and this movie is about this person. The desert colour suggest that this is a war zone and gives a sense of ruined, violence and  sadness. The american flag takes 3/4 of the poster and it's a bit blurred. The use of the flag in the poster suggest  that she is an hero and she is respected and honored. The flag also suggest to the audience that Megan is an american and this film is going to be an American film. 
The character below is the only character shown in the poster which suggest she is Megan Leavey. 

She is wearing a Marine combat clothes which excited the audience because it gives a sense that she is in danger or in a violent place. Picture background looks like a war zone and looks like the place has been destroyed. The picture is taken at a long shot to show the audience her outfit, the dog and the place. 

Another character is introduced in the picture which is the dog which suggest that the dog is another important thing in this film. It gives a sense that the dog belongs to the woman.

On top of the poster, they included the actors name that is going to be playing as Megan Leavey which is "Kate Mara". This excited the audience because they know that there is  a very famous actor in this film. The word " June" is highlighted in white to show the audience that the film is coming out in june. they kinda tease the audience because they didn't place the date of when the film is going to be released. Only the month.  The other film makers are placed in the middle of the poster but written in black font so that the movie title will stand out.      

47 meters down poster

From seeing this poster for the first time, I can say it's a horror film because of the dark color red, black and dark blue. Another feature that gives a sense that this film will be a horror film is the sharks. The sharks give a sense of death, blood and violence.

The movie title "47 Meters Down" is written big but the "47 " is written in a dark blue and the  " Meters down" is written in white writing. The reason why the film is called "47 Meters down" is because they want to excite the audience. This excites the audience because average divers only can dive up to 42 meters. Below the movie title, they have short sentences " No Help, No Hope, No Escape. This suggests to the reader that under the sea there is human that you can call for help and there is no escape because of the sharks hunting.

The position and the movement of the two girl body which is waving hands, panicking and wiggling suggest to the audience that the two girls don't know what they are doing and they are not licensed for scuba diving because scuba divers don't use their hand to swim up only their legs. The red around they represent blood suggest that they are bleeding and the sharks can smell them. The torchlight that the girl is holding gives the suggestion to the audience that the movie is going to be dark. the slide fade of 2 colors of the background black to dark blue suggests that there is no light under and it's unseeable. The sharks are surrounding the girls in the picture that suggest to the audience that the girls are being hunted by one too many sharks which make escape impossible. The sharks are presented showing the teeth and blood around it to show that audience that these sharks are aggressive, violent and they do eat humans. The light glancing through the top of the poster suggests to the audience freedom, peace and way out. 

The picture is taken in a long shot to show the the audience how little the two girls are and how huge the two sharks are.         

Rogue one poster analysis

In this post, I will be analyzing the different features and also write what effects does it have on the audience.

 In the poster, they made Jyn Eros wider and bigger to show the audience that she is a really important character in this film because she is standing out more than the other character. Below her, they included K-2SO and Cassian a little bit bigger to show the audience that these characters is the second main characters in this film. Below and around Cassian, they have the rest of the characters to show the audience that they are part of the group but they are less important. Besides Jyn, they included Darth Vader slid fading away that suggest that Vader is the one that is creating the problem or the one that is affecting Jyn. Vader's face is faded in the dark side of the death star to show the audience that Vader is the master and the leader of the Death Star. Vader in the dark side of the death star suggest to the audience that he is hidden and loves being in the shadows.

Below the rest of the characters, they have a slide fade blue line that fades to the other scene. In this poster, they included two settings. One is the death star and the other one is the beach. In the scene below, they have Stormtroopers walking across the water, planes flying across the skies and robots walking across the forest. This suggests that the Stormtroopers are overpowered and strong. Above the robots, they have the movie title written in gold, big font to make the title stand out. The characters in the poster are holding high powered weapons and new weapons that excites the audience because they want to see the new creations. 

Star wars excite the audience because of the futuristic weapons, building, clothing and much more. The characters are wearing old, ruined Armor and clothes that excites the audience because it gives a sense of spy, hidden. The color black represent evil and villain. The lighter colors are mix with the darker color which suggests that this film has some violence and horror because of the dark colors. The color that they use the most is blue because they want the poster to stand out more.

What is similar about this layout?

             The master heading is always on top of the page in bright colours and big font so that they will stand out. They are also always  covered by the character so that the characters face won't be covered. in both magazine, they always include a list of popular entertainment  that is in the magazine but they are placed in different areas in the cover. Sometimes they are placed all over the cover or on the right or left side. their text and font except the heading is always written in black and white. The text that they want to be seen is always coloured in white.

             In both magazine, they have superheros shown in their outfit and action position.  

What is different about the layout?

             Magazine one has a variety of character in one picture when there's only one character in the other magazine. Their picture colour are mostly dark colours like grey, black when magazine two has bright colours like blue,white. In both magazine, they have different background and feeling. first cover gives out an terror and a scary feeling. however second

Megan leavey trailer

The trailer starts off introducing the company logo that created the film (Bleecker street, LD entertainment) combine with an over nondiegetic soundtrack that makes the audience feel fear and alert.


The thumping sounds from the soundtrack create an enigma making the audience feel like there's something going to happen. They also have an over the voice of a marine wanking to Megan. The scene starts off introducing the main character in her combat gear and with other marines. This creates an excitement because the marine is holding a firearm and she was going to search for bombs. In this scene, they also show the audience the place and the setting from a point of view shot. This makes the audience feel like they are in the video alongside Megan. The scene cut frequently showing her life in the city, how she end up in the army and introducing her mother.

The scene cuts back and forward showing parts of the scene where she is searching for the bomb and when she was in the United States. The non-diegetic soundtrack continues throughout 5 scenes. The scene when the dog sits next to the bomb creates an effect on the audience. The effect is fear and nervous. This effect makes the audience feel like they are there next to the bomb. The scene cuts again and for the first time in the trailer, they talked about the dog feeding the audience information about how violent and aggressive the dog is and showing to the audience that this dog is special. The trailer included an example of how dangerous the dog is by showing the part parts of the film. The first example is where the dog attacks the marine and the part where the dog barks at Megan. The scene changes and became more interesting to the audience because the next scene started showing hints of an attack. The scene was the part where a car was driving towards the marines at a fast speed and not stopping. The marines were in their action formation waiting for the right time to shoot. This scene started to create a lot of enigma codes of wanting to know if the car is going to stop or going to run over the car. After that scene, they introduce the next side character. 

The scene cuts and show the continued scene of the mysterious car approach. They filmed the scene in multiple shot combine with a thumping sound that makes the audience feel nervous and scared. An explosion happen covering Megan and the dog making the audience think that they are dead. But the next scene showed was Megan in the hospital which now makes the audience think that the dog is dead because Megan was asking for the dog. The non-diegetic sound changes to a music called “Walk through the fire" by Zayde Wolf and Ruelle combine with a scene where she went back to see her mother.

Wonder woman magazine cover

On the top of the cover, we have the headline, "Empire" written in a big font and in white so that the company's name will stand out. In the middle of the magazine, we have Wonder woman in a big picture standing in her defensive position and with her hand crossing to create wonder woman's signature move which is the "X". The picture is in bright color to make the magazine pop out. wonder woman is in her fighting armor that creates an excitement because people can see how her armor looks like. 

For the background, we have two settings. first setting on the left is somewhere where there is fire, explosions, and suffering. The other side is somewhere in the world where there is a harsh storm, blizzards, gushing snow and enormous mountains. On the very top of the magazine, we have a special to tease the reader. The quote is "secrets of summer's biggest film!" that suggests that there is a hidden information that not a lot of people know about. This makes people feel special if they buy this magazine. This also makes this magazine special because it holds an unknown information about one of the best movies in 2017.

Near the top of the magazine cover, they included a bubble. In the bubble, it says "Chris Pratt" in black bold writing to make the name pop out because the person is popular and With "Talks guardian of the galaxy" in white writing. The quote suggests to the audience that Chris Pratt is going to share his thoughts about the movie.
